Best Indian Short Films on YouTube

We are all indeed hooked to YouTube these days. And YouTube is no longer just about the music videos or the tutorials, it’s also home to a large number of short films. A great platform for big time movie production houses and for amateur movie makers. Sometimes watching a 15 minutes clip can have a much larger impact than a 3 hour story.

Here is a list of my favorite Indian Short Films on YouTube sorted by categories!

Funny – Jai Mata Di

A very common phenomenon in today’s urban cities, bachelors trying to find a society which allows live-in (or maybe-not). How does a mother handle this situation? Terrific acting by Supriya Pilgaokar.

Romance – The Lift

How the daily mundane trips in the lift are brightened by the presence of someone special. Very few words, but very many emotions.

Feminism – Juice

Is a party really a party for middle class women trying to keep up with their mildly inebriated husband’s demands? When will the scene of action shift from the kitchen to the living room for the ladies?

Love – Interior Cafe

A rather common story, nothing very innovative there. But the acting, the ease of the elder versions and the restlessness of the young lovers is beautifully brought to life in Interior Cafe.

Metro Life – The Affair

This one I won’t say anything about. It’s already too short and I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Satire – Haircut

This one is hilarious! You will realise what a hypocrite our society has become and how a haircut makes a man come to terms with it. Delightful!!

Technology – Anukul

Family – Maa

A mother’s love has no measure. But should there be a limit to this love? Can a mother also make some mistakes?

Honorary mentions

Here are some films which did strike a chord and I didn’t want to categorize them, but you should catch these whenever you get the time.

So, these were my favorite Indian short films on YouTube, which are yours??? 🙂
