Wind River – Movie Review

From the writer of Sicario, comes another grasping crime drama inspired by actual events but only this time Taylor Sheridan directed it as well. Wind River stars a handful of actors with Jeremy Renner playing the role of a veteran tracker/hunter who helps a rookie FBI agent, played by Elizabeth Olsen to solve a murder mystery which takes place, yes you guessed it right, in Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.

The movie is 1 hr 47 mins long and not a single moment comes when you feel disconnected. We all have seen Jeremy is American Hustle, Hurt Locker, The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy but for me, this is his best performance so far!

There are some really well written dialogues in the movie which forces you to THINK, about life, family, love and pain. Here are some of the dialogues from the movie which I liked:

Wolves don’t kill unlucky deer. They kill the weak ones.

This isn’t the land of waiting for back up. This is the land of you’re on your own.

Chip: Man, i get so mad i want to fight the whole world. You got any idea what that feels like?

Cory Lambert: I do. I decided to fight the feeling instead. Cause i figured the world would win.

The background music throughout the movie adds to the beautiful cinematography capturing snowy mountains, snow and some more snow. The murder mystery is not so great though when compared to movies like Oxford Murders and Gone. They even reveal the climax quite early than you will expect but the motive of the movie is not to portray it as some kind of a jig saw puzzle, rather it’s about the pain when someone loses their loved ones, it’s about facing the reality! The movie ends with a statement which gives a message to all, everyone who is living in this world with their eyes and senses closed, following and believing their government and not realising that a lot more is happening in this world which very few of us are aware of.

Wind River has earned its place to stay in my Recommended Movies folder in my hard disk. Do watch it, it was released in 2017 so not so old. Movies like these just make my day go good.

Till next time!!!
