Mother Dairy is a reminder of the Rasberry-Mango Ice Candy I would buy from the Ice Cream Stand outside school every day in this burning weather. No AC in the bus and trying to preserve it till we reached home. Fond memories indeed. A few days ago I told my mother I was going to get some ice cream when she suggested to pick the Ice Cream Cake instead. Frankly I didn’t even know Mother Dairy made these. Apparently my mom knows way more than me about such fancy stuff.
Anyway, there are two flavours you can choose from, Red Velvet and Black Forest. Black Forest it was, for me! The packaging was really good. The cake came in an orange paper box further protected in a styrofoam package and finally wrapped in paper. After all you do need loads of layers to make sure it stays intact.
Chocolate crust interspersed with nuts(wow that rhymed!), the cake looked appetizing and we couldn’t wait to dig in. Appropriately firm when you cut a slice, the cake unravels layers of moist sponge cake, vanilla ice cream, and the chocolate covering with nuts. The sponge cake was not at all dry and tasted pretty fresh. The Vanilla ice cream had cherry fruit bits and jam and added the contrast needed with the chocolate. The crust was flavorful and gave a solid setting to the cake.
So the next time you need to buy a cake for someone’s birthday or Mother’s Day or when you need your dose of sweet, do try the Mother Dairy Black Forest Ice Cream Cake. It lives up to the brand name and is a perfect choice for this season.
